About the Author

I’m Manas Ranjan Behera — a professionally and academically trained creative designer, AI visual strategist and creator of PortrayMedia. I have spent years working with visual communication, creative design and digital marketing, developing visual ideas for professional and business-focused communication.

As AI image and video tools became part of my creative workflow, I began using professional AI prompting not simply for experiments, but for practical creative and business work. I use AI prompts to develop visual concepts, create marketing creatives, communicate ideas, build brand assets and support B2B businesses with better visual content.

Over time, I realised something important: knowing how to use an AI tool is one thing. Knowing what to ask it for is another.

A good prompt can turn a vague idea into a clearer visual direction. It can help a designer test concepts faster, help a marketer develop campaign ideas and help a business communicate its products or services in ways that are easier to see and understand.

My approach to AI comes from a design background. I don't look at a generated image only as an attractive picture. I consider composition, camera perspective, lighting, subject placement, environment, visual hierarchy, styling and the communication objective behind the visual.

This is particularly important in commercial and B2B work. A business visual has a purpose. It may need to explain a product, establish a brand personality, support an advertisement or make a complex idea easier to understand.

Because of this, I ask not only “Does this image look good?” but also “Does this visual communicate what the business needs to say?”

That distinction is at the heart of how I approach AI prompting and visual creation.

I created PortrayMedia to share this practical approach with designers, creators, marketers, business owners, photographers, filmmakers and anyone interested in what generative AI can do for visual communication.

The goal is not to make people dependent on ready-made prompts. It is to give them useful starting points that they can test, modify and develop into their own creative solutions.

I believe AI should expand creative possibilities without replacing creative thinking. The software can generate an image or video, but the human still decides what should exist, why it should exist and whether it actually works.

That balance between technology and creative judgment is the approach I bring to PortrayMedia.

Experience

My professional background is rooted in creative design, visual communication, advertising and digital marketing. My work has involved developing visual concepts and communication materials for professional and business-focused requirements.

Working with business communication has influenced how I use generative AI today. A visual created for a business needs to communicate something specific rather than simply look impressive.

I therefore use AI as part of a broader creative workflow that includes concept development, visual direction, prompting, experimentation, evaluation and refinement.

My current focus is on combining established design principles with AI-powered image and video workflows to create practical visual solutions for brands, businesses, marketers and creators.

AI Tools Tested and Used

I work with a growing range of AI image, video and creative tools as part of my visual development workflow. I evaluate these platforms from a designer's perspective, focusing not only on what they can generate, but also on how useful they are for real creative and commercial work.

  • ChatGPT — AI image generation, image editing, creative ideation, prompt development and visual direction
  • Nano Banana — AI image generation, image editing, visual variations and creative experimentation
  • Flux — AI image generation, photorealistic visuals and creative image experimentation
  • Midjourney — AI image generation, artistic direction, concept development and visual storytelling
  • Google Gemini — AI-assisted image creation, creative ideation and visual concept development
  • Google Flow — AI filmmaking, cinematic video creation, visual storytelling and scene development
  • Kling AI — AI video generation, image-to-video workflows, motion and cinematic visual experimentation
  • Google Veo — AI video generation, cinematic scenes and visual storytelling
  • Runway — AI video generation, image-to-video, creative editing and visual effects
  • Luma — AI video generation, motion, cinematic sequences and creative visual experimentation
  • Leonardo AI — AI image generation, concept art, creative assets and visual experimentation
  • Ideogram — AI image generation, typography-focused visuals, branding concepts and graphic design
  • Adobe Firefly — generative image creation, image editing, design concepts and creative production
AI creative tools evolve quickly. I focus on understanding what each platform is genuinely useful for rather than treating every new AI release as a trend. The tool matters, but the creative direction, prompt and final judgment matter more.

What I Teach

I teach AI prompting from a designer's point of view. For me, prompting isn't about writing the longest possible instruction. It is about understanding the visual you want and communicating the important details clearly.

My work focuses on areas such as:

  • Visual composition
  • Camera perspective
  • Lighting
  • Subject and environment
  • Creative direction
  • Image styling
  • Video movement
  • Cinematic storytelling
  • Brand communication
  • Commercial visual concepts
  • AI image prompting
  • AI video prompting
  • Image-to-image workflows
  • Image-to-video workflows

I also encourage experimentation. Change one detail. Generate again. Compare the results. Keep what works. That process is often one of the fastest ways to understand what a prompt is actually doing.

From Business Work to PortrayMedia

My experience with AI prompting grew through using it for B2B businesses and commercial creative work.

Business communication has different requirements from simply creating something that looks attractive. A visual may need to explain a product, establish a brand personality, support an advertisement or make a business appear more professional.

That changed the way I think about AI-generated visuals.

I don't ask only: “Does this image look good?”

I also ask: “Does this visual communicate what the business needs to say?”

That distinction is at the heart of how I approach AI prompting.

Why I Created PortrayMedia

I didn't want to create another website filled with complicated prompt formulas that look impressive but aren't very useful in actual creative work.

I wanted to build a place where people could find free AI image and video prompts, understand how they can be used and then make them their own.

The prompts and ideas on PortrayMedia are influenced by the kind of visual work I use in professional design and business communication.

That includes everything from portrait visuals, business campaigns, branding, logos, minimal design, line art, product visuals, fashion, photography, advertising and cinematic AI video.

Why I Share My Knowledge

AI tools are changing quickly, and there is no shortage of people talking about them.

What I found missing was practical guidance from the perspective of someone who works with design, visual communication and business requirements.

So I decided to share what I learn.

PortrayMedia is my way of turning that experience into something other people can use.

You can use the prompts as they are, change them completely, combine ideas or simply use them to understand how a particular visual direction can be described.

There is no requirement to follow a prompt word for word.

The goal is to help you create better, not to make you dependent on a prompt.

My Approach to AI

I don't see AI as a replacement for creative thinking.

I see it as another tool on the designer's desk.

The software can generate the image. The human still decides what should exist, why it should exist and whether it actually works.

That is the approach I bring to PortrayMedia.

I want to make AI visual creation more accessible while keeping the most important part in human hands: the idea.
